Next Generation Text Processing for Knowledge Management

Abstract

Larges amounts of available text content is severely underutilized in knowledge work at personal, organizational, and societal levels. Though content analysis technologies and user interaction concepts that offer promise have been explored in research for decades, only now are concepts beyond the conventional information retrieval (IR) model of query in, results out recieving wide attention. Besides the traditional IR application of "users chasing documents", there is also emerging interest in text mining applications based on "statistics over statements." This talk will demonstrate the state of the commercial art and survey the range of applications for content analysis and access.
