Abstract

An adaptive web portal to support the diverse virtual iron bird activities is described. The portal incorporates the most advanced web and other technologies, including blended modeling, simulation and interrogative visualization environments, intelligent software agents (humanoids / avatars with human-like voice and emotions); rule-based expert system for querying and extraction of quantitative information; rapid simulation and uncertainty visualization facility; advanced multimodal interfaces; biometric-based multimodal authentication tools; facility for affective state detection of the user (e.g., through sensors and/or visual cues) and responding in a timely manner; facility for enabling multiperspective views of large multidimensional datasets; knowledge repository with ontology-based knowledge representation; context-based search; knowledge customization and summarization facilities; and customized collaboration infrastructure.
